this is my finished dwelling. i made a beach house. for this project i used Styrofoam, colored paper, cardboard, and wine bottles corks. i didn't use any clay in this because clay is heavy and i used lighter materials for the structure of the house. i also didn't use clay because i was unsure of where to put it and other materials did a sufficient job of replacing clay.
Option A 1. The most challenging project for me was the animal head. it was most challenging because it was hard to form the face correctly since it was not human and somewhat unfamiliar. i had alot of trouble making the cheekbones, they came out more pointed then they should be. it was also difficult adding the correct texture that the lynx might of had on its face. its face is covered in hair that sticks out like a cat and i was unsure how to model that so i added lines into the face that looked somewhat like hair but dint have as much of the 3D quality of real hair 4. I really liked the illustration Fridays and thought they were a great way to make you think outside of the box. the words that were given could be interpreted in alot of different ways and it was very interesting seeing what everyone drew. just the diversity in the drawings alone shows that it forced people to think outside of the box and get creative. 7. if i had to determine an art style i had it would be abstract. i say abstract because alot of my art is very random and different. i used odd shapes and designs. i think i make things like this because i enjoy being creative and making random things that look cool. i think the more odd the piece is the ore unique it is.
this is my completed lidded vessel. to create the shape of the bowl i used a mold. for the lit i cut it the side of the mold and created a lip to hold it on the bowl. i also cut triangles around the outside of the bowl. i painted the bottom part an acrylic purple that i shaded into blue on the inside. for the lid i glazed it a purple.
the vessel is functional in some cases. the triangles cut into the side prohibit it from holding liquidids. if i could change the piece at all i would smooth the bowl more. i also would have glazed the inside of the bowl too. this is my in progress lidded vessel. it has a simple body shape with triangles cut into the side. the lid does not fit correctly so i plan to make another one that fits better on to the vessel. i also plan to paint it a glazed color.
Having begun his career as a political cartoonist, Damián Ortega brings a honed wit and intellectual rigor to his sculptures, installations, and videos. Composed of everyday objects and materials. i chose him because his artwork is very abstract and uses random objects to create very unique artwork. his sculptures are not what you would expect when someone says the word. he uses good camera angles and sets up his pieces very well.
this is my figurative head piece. for this piece i made a head with a tree growing out of it. for the tree i cut thick poster paper and cut out the design of the tree. to hold up the tree i cut a slit in the inside of the head to put the bottom in and wrapped the trunk with wire to keep it stable. for the colors i mainly used green, black and white. i shaded the tree from light green to black.
i think the piece was successful because of the color scheme and the style of the head. if i could change something i might make the tree 3-D and a little smaller. i used acrylic paint to give it a rough look. i also might have gave the head some relief designs. this is my lynx head! for this project i learned how to create hollow objects and animals faces. i also learned how to makes eyeballs with eye lids. the eye lids make the piece a lot more realistic. i also chose to use acrylic paint because it isn't shiny and looks more real. i can also get more colors with acrylic. i think it turned out successful and looked realistic. the face structure makes it successful.
if i could change something i would have shaded the colors on the face more. i also would have added whiskers to the face. i also think the texture added to the face makes it look like it has fur. this is my liger relief piece. i decided to do something comical. the liger is from napoleon dynamite which is a movie i really like. i tried to make it look as much like the liger from the movie. i decided to glaze it because it has a nice smooth feel and i like the reflection it gives off. i cut it into four pieces to make it esier to work with because it was somewhat large.
if i could change something i would add more detail to the face. the picture i used as a referance did not have much detail in the face. i also would have added fur texture to the body of the liger. |
